Bio
Nikita Diakur is a director and producer working in Germany whose films use an animation method built on computer simulation and chance. His short Ugly, codirected with Redbear Easterman and described as a broken simulated film about kindness and coexistence, won the Grand Prize at Encounters in 2017. His follow up Fest was released by Adult Swim. In Backflip, his avatar learns a backflip through machine learning; it screened at Annecy and Oberhausen in 2022 and won the German Short Film Prize for animation, plus awards at Ottawa, Turku, Guanajuato and the New Chitose Airport festival.
