What is Hyperpop?
Hyperpop is a maximalist pop style defined by pitched-up vocals, saturated synths, abrupt structural shifts, and a deliberate aesthetic of excess. Its lineage runs through A.G. Cook's PC Music label (founded 2013), SOPHIE's foundational tracks "BIPP" (2013) and "Immaterial" (2018), and 100 gecs' viral 2019 album 1000 gecs. Charli XCX's collaboration with the scene has carried its sound into mainstream pop.
