Alberto Vázquez

Alberto Vázquez Rico, born in A Coruña in 1980, is a Galician comics artist and animation director. He studied fine arts in Pontevedra and at the Technical University of Valencia, and cofounded the comics collective Polaqia. With Pedro Rivero he adapted his graphic novel Psiconautas into the short Birdboy, which won a Goya, and later into the feature Birdboy: The Forgotten Children. That feature and his short Decorado both won Goya Awards. His adult animated feature Unicorn Wars brought him another Goya, and in 2025 he completed a feature version of Decorado. Outside film he plays drums in the band Mano de obra.
