Sonido La Changa
Sonido La Changa played Boiler Room SYSTEM CDMX: Sonidero Special in Mexico City on 14 November 2024, a night presented by Havana Club that ran from seven in the evening until one in the morning. The bill for the Boiler Room Sonidero Special in Mexico City in November 2024 also featured Ely Pérez, Amantes del Futuro, Sonidera MX, Turbo Sonidero, Sonido Ecko's and Sonido La Conga. Chilango reported that the Boiler Room Sonidero Special in Mexico City was curated by Sonidero Confirmación, a project known for showcasing the urban sound of the city. Sonido La Changa is a Mexico City sonidero that Ramón Rojo Villa set up in 1968. Chilango traces Sonido La Changa back to Tepito at the close of the 1960s and points to the sound's affection for the Sonora Matancera. Sonido La Changa draws on cumbia, salsa, bachata, guaracha and gaita, and the sound appeared at the Vive Latino festival in 2014. Boiler Room staged the Mexico City Sonidero Special within its SYSTEM series to spotlight the city's soundsystem scene and pass the microphone to the sonideros who sustain that culture.
