Funk Tribu | Boiler Room: Ghent

Funk Tribu is the project of Eduardo Jose Montañez Sanchez, a producer from Colombia who is now based in Berlin. Funk Tribu's roots lie in the Bogotá music scene, where Eduardo Jose Montañez Sanchez started making electronic music as a teenager. Bugece places Funk Tribu within the nu-trance movement and describes the Funk Tribu sound as retro-futuristic and genre-fluid. Techno Airlines files Funk Tribu under trance, hard trance and techno. Techno Airlines lists Phonky Tribu from 2021, Viento from 2024 and Azul from 2025 as tracks to know from Funk Tribu. Funk Tribu runs a record label called TRIBE, which Bugece presents as an outlet for forward-looking electronic music. The first Boiler Room session grew into a weekly show with local DJs and then became a Ustream channel. Boiler Room streams mainly underground dance music events live and has widened its programming over time to take in hip hop, jazz and classical music.
