Nicola Cruz | Boiler Room x Plisskën Festival

Boiler Room came to Athens for the first time on 25 June 2019, taking over the main stage for the opening party of Plisskën Festival. The festival ran across three stages at Technopolis, a converted gasworks in the heart of the city's old industrial district. Boiler Room billed the night as a return to its platform for Nicola Cruz, Ana Helder and Jane Fitz, alongside debuts from Khidja and from local DJs MarcelDune and Noff Weezy playing back to back. Plisskën, which began in Athens in December 2010, used June 2019 to bring back its two day summer edition. The Athens Voice preview of the broadcast described the Ecuadorian producer as bringing a mix of downtempo, cumbia and house. Cruz was born to Ecuadorian parents in Limoges, France, moved to Quito at the age of three, and later spent five years studying audio production in Mexico. Rolling Stone, writing in February 2019, noted that his second album Siku had come out on ZZK that January. Wikipedia's account of the festival records this June 2019 edition as the first Boiler Room Athens, naming Cruz among its artists.
