Furacão 2000 | Boiler Room Rio De Janeiro: Carnaval
Furacão 2000
Boiler Room made its debut at Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro on 3 March 2025 with a one-off street party that ran from six in the evening until midnight local time. The party was pitched as a bloco carrying Afrofunk, funk carioca, Miami bass and pagode. On the Rio Carnaval session page Furacão 2000 is filed under baile funk alongside Rennan Da Penha, Leo Justi of Heavy Baile, DJ Vicx, Preta QueenB Rull, Marcelin and MC Marcelly. It grew out of a 1970s merger of two sound teams, Rômulo Costa's Som 2000 and Gilberto Guarani's Guarani 2000, which at first staged soul, funk and disco dances. Its television presence included slots on Rede CNT in the 1990s and a daily Band Rio programme, hosted by Rômulo Costa and Priscila Nocetti, that took its model from Soul Train. Anitta's first contract was with Furacão 2000, which released her song Eu Vou Ficar on 9 July 2010. Wikipedia credits Furacão 2000 as the main force behind promoting funk carioca and spreading it across Brazil during the 1990s.
