Interplanetary Criminal | Boiler Room x AVA Festival 2023

Interplanetary Criminal played the Boiler Room stage at The Nomadic during AVA Festival in Belfast on Saturday 3 June 2023. AVA Festival 2023 ran over 2 and 3 June at Belfast's Titanic Slipways, and its Boiler Room programme featured Kettama, Eliza Rose, I Jordan, X Club and Interplanetary Criminal. A Hot Press review of AVA Festival 2023 listed Interplanetary Criminal among the Boiler Room acts, together with Kettama, Eliza Rose, DJ Heartstring and Marion Hawkes of Ponyhawke. Interplanetary Criminal is the stage name of Zachary Koa Bruce, a British DJ and producer born in Blackburn in 1993 who later moved to Bolton in Greater Manchester. In 2019 Interplanetary Criminal and the producer Main Phase set up ATW Records, a label centred on contemporary UK garage and breakbeat. Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal released the single B.O.T.A. in 2022, and it spent two weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart. Interplanetary Criminal ended his Boiler Room set at AVA Festival in Belfast with Ozone Bounce, a record he had spent roughly two years trying to track down. Mixmag's 2025 cover feature on Interplanetary Criminal recalls the AVA Belfast Boiler Room set, where the Ozone Bounce closer served as a tribute to Bolton, the town he grew up in.
