BLOND:ISH - Burning Man Disco Knights Set 2019
BLOND:ISH
The 2019 Burning Man took place in the Black Rock Desert with Metamorphoses as its art theme. Disco Knights is a San Francisco Burning Man camp that was previously called Green Gorilla Lounge. By 2012 Visionquest, Art Department, Soul Clap and acts from the Dirtybird label had all appeared at the camp. BLOND:ISH began in 2007, when Vivie-ann Bakos and Anstascia D’Elene Corniere formed the act together during that year’s Winter Music Conference. Corniere left in 2019, and Bakos kept BLOND:ISH going with the engineer and producer Ian Mckenzie. In a GRAMMY.com interview published in November 2020, Bakos said she tries each year to make a special edit for the sunrise moments at Burning Man. Her remix of I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner started life as one of those Burning Man edits, and GRAMMY.com noted it was the only remix the band had approved. She also set up the nonprofit Bye Bye Plastic, which aims to rid music venues and events of single use plastics.
