Christian Löffler (live) - Mayan Warrior - Burning Man 2024

Burning Man 2024 was held in the Black Rock Desert with the theme Curiouser & Curiouser. After fire destroyed the original Mayan Warrior in April 2023 on its way to a fundraiser at Punta de Mita, the team revealed plans for a replacement car to bring to Burning Man 2024. The new vehicle kept the theme, design and rough size of the original but was planned as a mobile stage for live performances. Founder Pablo González Vargas told Billboard the long term aim was to present more live acts playing real instruments. Named Mayan Warrior Galaxyer, the replacement was designed to look like a Mayan spaceship crossed with an altar stage. Christian Löffler is a German musician from Greifswald whose work mixes techno, deep house and ambient, and he founded the label Ki Records in 2009. He started out recording sounds from nature and processing them on a drum machine. His sixth album, A Life, came out in April 2024 with guest vocals from Malou and Mogli. For Parallels: Shellac Reworks, released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2021, he reinterpreted shellac recordings from the label’s archive, including works by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin.
