CHRIS LAKE bumping house DJ set in The Lab LA
Chris Lake played Mixmag's The Lab LA in November 2015, a weekly after-work stream that Mixmag ran with Smirnoff Sound Collective from its office in downtown Los Angeles. According to Mixmag, Chris Lake reached The Lab LA in November 2015 fresh from HARD Day of the Dead and midway through a North American tour. In 2012 Chris Lake earned his first Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Deadmau5 on the album 4x4=12. Wikipedia describes 2015 as a major change of direction for Chris Lake, who put out five tracks on Ultra Records that year, among them Chest, Piano Hand and Stranger. Chris Lake launched his own label, Black Book Records, in 2017, the same year he released Operator. Mixmag invited Chris Lake back to The Lab LA in April 2018, by which point his Black Book Records label had launched in partnership with WAV. Chris Lake's Lab LA set in November 2015 falls at the moment Mixmag described him as moving toward a more tech-focused house sound made for dancing.
