Zen Mechanics - Boom Festival (2018)

The Dutch psytrance act Zen Mechanics was booked for the Dance Temple at Boom Festival 2018, an edition that ran from 22 to 29 July 2018. Boom Festival is held every two years at Idanha-a-Nova in Portugal and grew out of a goa trance party first staged in 1997. At Boom Festival, the Dance Temple is the stage given over to psychedelic trance. Sacred Geometry was the theme chosen for the 2018 edition of Boom Festival. Zen Mechanics is the alias of the Dutch musician Wouter Thomassen, who started the project in 2002 after roughly twelve years behind the decks. The Zen Mechanics sound draws on trance and progressive while folding in ambient textures and breaks. Zen Mechanics has put out music on labels such as Aleph Zero, Iboga and Neurobiotic. Zen Mechanics founded the Sourcecode Transmissions label, which released Solarians, a collaboration with Yestermorrow, on 26 March 2019. Wouter Thomassen also works under the project names Citizen and Transmissions in Bloom. Zen Mechanics has been booked for psychedelic festivals around the world, among them Boom, Universo Paralello, Glade and Rainbow Serpent.
