deadmau5 / TESPILOT - Essential Mix 2019 | BBC RADIO 1 [23 March 2019]

deadmau5 is the recording name of Joel Thomas Zimmerman, a Canadian producer and DJ born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Zimmerman founded his own record label, mau5trap, in 2007. Testpilot is the techno alias of Zimmerman, officially launched in March 2014 with the release Sunspot (White Space Conflict). BBC Radio 1 aired the 2019 deadmau5 mix on 23 March at 1am GMT, billed under both the deadmau5 and Testpilot names. Magnetic describes the opening hour of the deadmau5 mix as a Testpilot set of melodic and harder techno that still includes some deadmau5 records. EDMTunes reports that the Testpilot hour starts with around twenty minutes of mainstream club house before turning to techno and tech house. In the Magnetic tracklist, the deadmau5 hour of the mix runs through Ghosts 'n' Stuff and Polaris before ending on Strobe. According to EDMTunes, Zimmerman first brought Testpilot to Radio 1's mix show in 2017, during a yearlong residency on the programme.
