Dax J
Dax J is a techno artist born in London who is based in Berlin, where he also runs his own studio. Dax J grew up on jungle, drum and bass and garage, and began DJing on pirate radio at the age of fifteen while still a schoolboy. In 2013 Dax J founded his own label, Monnom Black, which has gone on to release music by artists from many countries. Dax J released his album Shades of Black on Monnom Black in 2015, and Mixmag made it its album of the month. After Shades of Black, Dax J put out Offending Public Morality in 2018, Utopian Surrealism in 2021 and, in 2022, a fourth album answering the war in Ukraine. Bassiani is a nightclub in Tbilisi, Georgia, founded in 2014 inside the Dinamo Arena building, with its main dance floor set in a disused swimming pool. Bassiani has a smaller second room named Horoom, home to a series of LGBTQ parties known as Horoom Nights. On 12 October 2021 Dax J delivered Bassiani Invites 104, a techno and acid techno promo mix of roughly seventy three minutes. The Dax J mix Bassiani Invites 104 featured three of his own tracks from the Monnom Black release MONNOM026, among them The Second Renaissance (Final Dystopia). Dax J is credited with ten hour marathon closing sets at two techno clubs, Berghain and Bassiani.
