GORDO: On The Beach (Bloemendaal, Netherlands)

GORDO played this On The Beach set in Bloemendaal in the Netherlands, and the recording was published on 9 October 2024. Diamanté Anthony Blackmon, the producer who performs as GORDO, was born in Washington, D.C., in 1991 to Nicaraguan parents and spent part of his childhood in Guatemala. Blackmon first made his name as Carnage, and his 2015 album Papi Gordo, issued under that name, topped Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Blackmon launched the GORDO alias at Club Space in Miami, and KTM, which came out in February 2021, was the first single under that name. In May 2022 Blackmon gave up the Carnage name after fourteen years, a move meant to mark his turn from trap and bass towards house and techno. GORDO produced several songs on Drake's 2022 album Honestly, Nevermind, Sticky and Massive among them. GORDO put out his debut album Diamante through Ultra Records on 26 July 2024, a sixteen track record carrying two Drake collaborations, Sideways and Healing. In July 2024 Hï Ibiza put the full set GORDO played in its Club Room during a Zamna Festival takeover on the club's YouTube channel. Ibiza Spotlight's July 2024 review of Diamante says GORDO, formerly DJ Carnage, rose in the mid 2010s pushing house and club sounds while exploring Latin styles.
