What is EDM?

EDM is an umbrella term for multiple genres, including dance-pop, house, techno, electro and trance, rather than a single style.^[1] These are percussive electronic genres originally made for nightclubs, raves and festivals.^[2] Much of it is produced for playback by DJs who create seamless selections of tracks.^[3]

On Videojam, the EDM rollup (all 35 member genre tags across its 8 pillar buckets) carries 3873 public videos, the largest single rollup in the genre config. EDM is the top-level parent of 8 pillar buckets, several of which already have their own glossary terms, including House, Techno & Trance, Dance & Pop and Melodic & Progressive.
