What is Latin House?

Latin house is house music's four-on-the-floor pulse infused with Latin percussion and vocals — congas, timbales, salsa and Afro-Cuban patterns riding a club beat. It grew out of New York and Chicago's Latino club communities in the late 1980s, and it resurges every time house music rediscovers groove over minimalism — most recently through the tribal and Afro-Latin crossovers filling festival stages. Expect warmth and syncopation: sets that swing rather than march.
