What is Chillout?

Chillout took its name from the White Room, a side room at London's Heaven nightclub in 1989 where DJs played slower music away from the main floor.[1] The style generally stays below 120 BPM and leans on a laid back groove rather than peak time intensity.[2] It draws freely on downtempo, ambient, lounge, jazz and world music.[3]
