What is Dance Pop?

Dance-pop is mainstream pop built on uptempo dance-music structure: four-on-the-floor kicks, club-ready hooks, polished synth production, and lead vocals up front. It crystallised in the mid-1980s as the meeting point of disco, electronic dance, and chart pop, and remains the dominant pop-radio formula whenever the dancefloor cycles back into the mainstream.
