What is Dub?

Dub grew out of reggae in Jamaica in the late 1960s.^[1] Engineers such as King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry treated the mixing console itself as an instrument, remixing existing tracks on the fly.^[2] The results strip songs back to their rhythm section, the stripped down drum and bass track sometimes called a riddim.^[3]
