What is Guaracha?

Guaracha is an electronic music genre that began in Medellin, Colombia, in the 2010s, unrelated to the older Cuban guaracha of the same name.[1] It folds the festive trumpets, tambora drums and accordions of traditional cumbia into electronic dance production.[2] The results run at a high BPM built for fast, energetic club sets.[3]

On Videojam, Guaracha carries 48 public videos. Artists most represented in the catalog are Marcela Reyes, Fumaratto Ferroso and Alex Hard. Guaracha is a subgenre in the Latin & Urbano DJ-Sets family, alongside Reggaeton, Dembow and Latin House, and is also a child genre of Latin in the genre hierarchy.
